MALAYSIA

Have mercy on us, LORD, have mercy,
for we have had our fill of contempt.
We have had more than our fill of the scoffing of the proud
and the contempt of the arrogant. Ps 123:3–4, NLT.

Datuk Seri Najib Razak said Malaysia is now a fully mature democracy as the ruling government allows dissent.According to Bernama Online, the prime minister said this after his speech on the “Global Movement of the Moderates” in Hawaii where he is attending the Asia Pacific Economic Caucus (APEC) Summit. (http://www.themalaysianinsider.com/malaysia/article/najib-malaysia-does-not-stifle-dissent/) Continue to pray:

  • for fair and clean elections
  • for the rakyat to be united to create a clean and just nation that values integrity and good moral principles
  • we will be matured in thinking and action, stand firm in what is right for the nation and refuse to be used by unscrupulous and selfish politicians
  • for wisdom & commitment for the government to a TRULY mature democracy, that our leaders will TRULY walk their talk

WORLD

Kazakhstan

2 months after two new religion laws came into effect; Kazakhs are beginning to feel the ever-tightening squeeze of restrictive legislation. The laws introduced in October cover a great deal of ground in an attempt by the government to eradicate extremism. New restrictions imposed range from registration regulations for religious groups, to fewer rights for children involved with religious activities, to the banning of prayer rooms in public places. Read the full article HERE Pray:

  • · Pray for the Church in Kazakhstan to flourish despite the restrictions imposed on them.
  • · As these laws involve prayer rooms in prisons where many churches are formed, please pray for the prison congregations and prison ministries to overcome these laws.
  • · Believers are determined to continue to spread the Gospel, but outreach is getting harder and will likely continue to do so.  Please pray that they do not lose faith and perseverance.

Tonga

Everyday life is heavily influenced by Polynesian traditions and especially by the Christian faith; for example, all commerce and entertainment activities cease from midnight Saturday until midnight Sunday, and the constitution declares the Sabbath to be sacred, forever. (Source: Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tonga#Religion)

  • · Pray that Tongans Christians would seek ways to contribute to the Kingdom of god rather than seeking from the church what benefits them the most.
  • · The past century has been one of spiritual decline.  There is a long and sad history of bitter schisms within Methodism.  Pray for a true spirit of unity among all believers and churches, and pray for the leaders who will exemplify unity with gracious humble spirits.
  • · Tonga has the world’s highest national percentage of Mormons.  The country’s largest employers are Mormons; many financial perks are on offer for those considering the switch to Mormonism.  Pray for the error of this sect to be exposed as such and for many to find freedom in Christ
  • · The Tongan diaspora is now larger than the population of Tonga itself.  Pray that the Tongans abroad might also recapture the dynamic faith of their forefathers and the vision to take the gospel to the world.
  • · Pray for the last impact of ministries e.g. YFC, SU, CCCI and YWAM etc.
