wmcasAfter the idea of having a building of our own was initiated, the Alor Setar Wesley Church Building Fund was initiated. In December 2000, when Mr. & Mrs. Khor Teik Hooi celebrated their 40th Wedding Anniversary, they officially pledged RM40 000 to the Church Building Fund. A Building Task Force was then formed.

The pledges from the Church Building Fund from the members were insufficient to pay for the cost of building and renovation. Appeals were made to other churches in Malaysia for donations and interest-free loans. By the grace of God, He blessed us in mysterious ways by touching people and friends who donated generously.

Matthew 17:20 says, "If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there', and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you."

Building a temple for the worship of God was a colossal task. The Lord has shown us that Solomon discovered that God's Work done in God's Way will receive God's Support. God required not only that the church be built for Him, but also dedicated to Him. Dedication goes further than hoping God will accept what we offer - it gathers up those hopes in a distinct and definite commitment.

Finally, the present Alor Setar Wesley Methodist Church owes its existence to the legacy laid by a group of faithful pioneers whose search for a place of worship led them to fulfill God's higher plans.

Glory to God - "Amazing Grace How Great Thou Art!"
